Principal Message:
Dear Parents,
We have exciting opportunities for students and community members this year. October marks the beginning of the Star Tutoring Program. Star Tutors are dedicated community members who are willing to commit at least two hours per week to working with students. This program assists students who need just a little extra practice with reading and Star Tutors often find it the most rewarding part of their day. Parents can also get involved through the PTA or classroom volunteer opportunities.
This year we will begin our second year of road to Success. Each child will be expected to read at least 20 minutes each day with a ticket awarded for every 100 minutes. All tickets will be placed in a drawing at the end of the year for bicycles and other prizes. Though only a few students win prizes-everyone is a winner because the ultimate goal is to become a better reader. We have three family nights to enjoy this year. AmeriCorp Literacy Family Night is scheduled for Thursday, October 15th with many of our students involved in programs. Norh Star Science Family Night will be held on Thursday, February 18th featuring work prepared for the district science fair. Our Math Family Night, scheduled for Thursday, April 22nd, is designed for the entire family and promises to make math fun. All family nights begin at 5:30 PM. We encourage you to attend and see all of the great learning at our school.
In our Community of Caring you will find a learning environment where expectations are high and exceptional is common place.
Warmly,,
Earl R. Arnoldson, Principal
